Community Power Gets Tunnels (14 September 2019)

Our thoughts are currently with all those impacted by the bush fires, and the many firefighters and volunteers who have been fighting to keep their communities safe.

Community Power Gets Tunnels

It was with much excitement that the State and Federal Governments last week announced that Coffs Harbour will be getting a bypass with tunnels. This is a great example of Council and the community working together to achieve a fantastic result.

Council were proud to provide support to the community through the Build The Best Bypass campaign to present a united front to decision makers on the issue of tunnels as a preferred option for the Coffs Harbour Bypass.

The environmental impact study is now on public exhibition and I encourage everyone to read it and give feedback so that we can build the best bypass together.

Stadium Upgrade Complete

What a fantastic facility we now have in the C.ex Coffs International Stadium! The stadium upgrade has been a real collaboration between different levels of government, local business, local artists, council, sporting bodies and community organisations – and what a result!

If you attended the AFL grand final last Saturday, then you will have seen for yourself what a world class facility we now have. If you haven’t been to the Stadium lately then drop by this weekend for the North Coast Football grand finals and have a look, you can even grab a coffee and a bite to eat from the HUB Café while supporting your local team!

Prosper Coffs

As a member of the Prosper Coffs Harbour board I was excited to attend the official launch this week of this incredible initiative. Prosper Coffs Harbour is a not-for-profit company, established to administer three charitable trusts that aim to benefit the local community. Prosper Coffs Harbor offers youth scholarships to assist emerging artists, was recently granted funding from the NSW Government for rehabilitation work at Woolgoolga Lakeside Reserve and is currently raising funds for a Seabin at the Marina.
