Seniors Welcome to Sample Art and Culture

6 years ago | by

There are a number of special events happening during Seniors Week at Council’s art and cultural facilities.

Join Gallery Curator Jo Besley for a tour of The Journey Woman, the current exhibition at Coffs Harbour Regional Gallery on Tuesday April 10 from 11.30am.

The Journey Woman presents reflections on travel, specifically several journeys to China, by highly regarded senior Australian Artist Suzanne Archer.

History buffs can then enjoy an afternoon guided tour from 2.30pm of the Coffs Harbour Regional Museum, which was originally built as the first courthouse and police station in Coffs Harbour.

If books and gadgets are more your thing a free morning tea will be held at Toormina library on Wednesday April 11 from 10.00am where seniors and their companions can learn about digital resources, e-audio books or just pop in for a cuppa and a chat.

Then on Thursday April 12 celebrate the opening of the Coffs Harbour Regional Museum’s newest exhibition Created from a Dream: A Gift of Calligraphy with morning tea in the beautiful gardens surrounding the museum from 10.30am.

The exhibition presents a very special community project, a handmade book and historical record of the transformation of the North Coast Regional Botanic Garden.

Entry to the Coffs Harbour Regional Museum will be free to seniors and their companions during Seniors Week April 4- 14.
