Anzac Day

ANZAC Day is one of our nation’s most important occasions and is a day of national remembrance for servicemen and servicewomen who fought bravely for our nation. Cr Swan and I had the privilege of attending the Woolgoolga dawn service and I later attended the commemorative services at Coffs Harbour and took part in the march and service at Sawtell. It was wonderful to see so many of our community paying their respects. Especially encouraging was the number of school children taking part. Thank you to everyone involved.

Legacy Paves the Way for Future

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Dr Mal Eutick for his ten years of support helping to establish the Coffs Harbour Regional Gallery as the home of the still life genre in Australia. His generous contribution has developed our understanding of the still life genre and progressed the careers of many artists in our country. The Coffs Harbour Regional Gallery will build on his legacy to create a new National Still Life Award from 2017.

Get Involved in Jetty4Shores Art

It was very exciting to turn the first sod on the works for stages 2-4 of the Jetty4Shores last week. This is a significant project for our community and will create social, cultural and fun places where people can relax, meet and enjoy this beautiful corner of paradise. The community now have the opportunity to leave their mark in this space by getting involved in a number of workshops and artist opportunities. If you are interested in taking part more information is available on Council’s website.

Love Where You Live

We are all so lucky to live in paradise here on the Coffs Coast. One of the places that many of us enjoy is the beautiful natural environment of Bonville and Pine Creeks. Council is currently seeking information on how the community uses these waterways to help in the preparation of the Bonville and Pine Creeks Estuary Coastal Management Program. This program will guide the estuary’s management into the future and ensure that we can all enjoy its beauty for many generations to come so please get involved.
