We are so lucky to live in a community that enjoys an active and diverse cultural life. The creative arts and associated industries play a central role to the liveability of our region including our economic, social and cultural wellbeing. As a community we need to build on our strengths and develop our capacity and the depth of our cultural offerings to further enhance the attractiveness of the Coffs Harbour area as both a place to live in and to visit. The draft Creative Coffs – Cultural Strategic Plan 2017 – 2022 and Cultural Policy provide a framework to guide the strategic direction, investment and outcomes of cultural and creative development in the Coffs Harbour LGA. Though this is a busy time of year I urge everyone to take the time to provide feedback on this important strategy. You have until 5pm on January 31 and can simply fill in the online submissions form on the Council website.

Congratulations to Teachers and Students
I’d just like to say well done to all the schools I’ve been invited to lately as part of their annual presentations. We’re very lucky to have such wonderful, talented young people here in our community and such dedicated and passionate teachers to inspire them to be their very best.
Carols Tonight
I hope I’ll see you at Brelsford Park tonight for the Carols by Candlelight. It’s going to be a great night.
Shop Local – Please!
Please remember to support your community this Christmas by shopping locally.
Safe and Happy Holiday Season
But before I leave you for this year, can I ask you all to look out for anyone you know that might be on their own over Christmas. Please reach out to them as it can be sad and lonely time for many of the less fortunate.
Have a very safe and happy Christmas and a peaceful and prosperous New Year. Take care of yourselves and your loved ones. See you in 2017!
