Well Done Coffs!

What a great way to start a new Council term – finding out that Coffs Harbour has once again won the globally-acclaimed International Festivals and Events Association (IFEA) World Festival and Event City Award.

Other cities that won this year include Dubai, Sydney, Krakow in Poland, Philadelphia in the States and Taupo in New Zealand.

The partnership with – and support of the local community – at all levels, is critical to the success of any festival or event and this is what I’m most proud of about this award – having recognition for the amazing work this community achieves by working together to attract and successfully run a huge range of major events and community festivals.

Without the support and positive relationship we have with you, the community, as well as our event partners, we wouldn’t be able to host such popular and diverse events. The Coffs Harbour community is the real winner of this superb accolade.

Making the most of Paradise

I hope you’ve all been enjoying the great weather we’ve been having these holidays. There’s just so much to see and do on our own doorstep.

The beaches are at their very best at the moment – and a great way to keep visitors entertained and happy. Please make sure you go to a patrolled beach, check out @CHCCLifeguards on Twitter or find out patrol times and beach conditions information.

Show We Care

It’s We Care Day today at Brelsford Park and I’d urge you to come along and celebrate who we are and the great place we live in. There will be fun, music and lots to do. The day will kick off with a Wheelchair Sports basketball competition hosted by Paralympian Ryley Batt OAM which I’m taking part in. It’ll be great fun. I can’t wait.
